What will you do in this job?

  • Fleet maintenance management and repair expense management – identifying areas for improvement and reinforce policies and procedures
  • Responsible for scheduling preventative maintenance tasks and maintenance personnel to maximize our operational requirements on budget.
  • Communicate maintenance requirements to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Selects, develops and retains a diverse team capable of delivering the expected performance results and with growth potential.
  • Continuously challenges the team to improve operations, and ensures compliance with standards to protect brand integrity.
  • Identify maintenance employee training requirements and ensure successful completion
  • Establish a network of local repair vendors to utilize for services to ensure the most cost effective means of repair and servicing
  • Ensure shop or facility is clean and kept in a professional working manner
  • Responsible for maintaining Pursuit’s safety standards in our maintenance facility, active member of the Brewster Transportation Health and Safety team.
  • Lead maintenance personnel in day-to-day activities to ensure the safe and efficient completion
  • Prepare management reporting as required
  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned
  • Track and report weekly all maintenance issues and potential risks to General Manager
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with key partners: Parks Canada, suppliers and repair personnel
  • Being an active member of the management team of Brewster Transportation
  • Help coordinate the transferring of assets between Pursuits Brewster Transportation Columbia Ice Fields operations
  • Offer suggestions for capital improvements at will improve efficiency, drive a positive guest and employee experience, and allow us to become better environmental stewards
  • Leadership responsibilities of 15 or more with the ability to delegate effectively

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities.:

  • Previous management experience in fleet maintenance of a location of 50 vehicles or more preferably within the motor-coach industry
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems, create and implement solutions
  • To honour our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and administer discipline
  • Experience with hands-on training preferred
  • Knowledge of safety and training procedures as it proteins to a maintenance facility
  • Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Requires light lifting and carrying
  • Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel powered equipment.
  • Scheduling and setting priorities for work to be accomplished
  • Operational knowledge of motorized gasoline and diesel fueled vehicles, and shop equipment and tools
  • Valid Driver’s License
