What will you do in this job?

  • Be prepared for a fast-paced work environment with changing conditions 
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and good communication skills 
  • Ensure that a high level of customer service is given to each guest 
  • Deliver high-standard interpretive commentary on board each tour 
  • Safely operate tour boats, in accordance with Transport Canada regulations Master Limited <60 Ton
  • Participate in the global effort to keep all areas of Minnewanka clean and wildlife safe 
  • Stay up to date with private chartered cruises and ensure proper preparations are made in terms of set up and food/beverage 
  • Set the standard and motivate a team of up to 15 to complete day to day tasks and ensure smooth daily operations
  • Oversee and conduct interpretive tour evaluations throughout the season
  • Assist with interpretive guide training and provide constructive feedback throughout the season 
  • Ensure smooth operation by coordinating tour boats departures; operate radio communication hub
  • Operate all POS systems for bookings, ticketing & retails; handle cash and credit transactions 
  • Understand and promote all products, services and policies offered by Pursuit BJC 
  • Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked retail floor 
  • Effective handling of complaints and disputes while adhering to and setting the example of hospitality standards  
  • NOTE: Transport Canada regulations state that  In Canada only Canadian or Permanent resident of Canada can work on Canadian vessels. TC form #82-0701 

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • High attention to detail and good communication skills 
  • Comfort and experience in providing feedback in a constructive manner to improve employee performance and engagement
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environments 
  • Ability to think calmly and clearly in any situation 
  • Be a self-starter and have a passion for motivating others 
  • Ability to focus attention on guests’ needs and work cohesively as a team remaining calm and courteous in a high volume, fast paced environment 
  • Desire and passion to lead a team by example and set standards for hospitality 
  • Be solution oriented and strive to effectively solve problems in a timely manner 
  • Strong customer service skills

  • Public speaking skills 
  • Mechanically inclined 
  • Second language an asset 
  • Cash handling experience 
  • Master Limited <60 Ton an asset
