The starting salary for this position is $19.00 per hour

What will you do in this job?

  • Be a part of the team operating the attractions at the Golden Skybridge. The Attraction team is responsible for the Sky Zipline, Challenge Course, Giant Canyon Swing, Mountain Coaster, ticket validation, trail monitoring, interpretative programing and guiding.
  • Daily opening and closing procedures for the attractions.
  • Conducting inspections of infrastructure and equipment.
  • Ensuring all guests meet our access and waiver requirements.
  • Fitting harnesses, helmets and other equipment correctly and monitoring the use of all safety equipment.
  • Conducting safety orientations and equipment safety checks.
  • Monitoring the progress, experience, and safety of guests on the attractions.
  • Using guest engagement skills to ensure a memorable experience for each guest and build excitement about the forthcoming experience.
  • Facilitating guests’ experience by establishing rapport with each guest, reviewing safety protocols, answering questions, demonstrating how to use equipment required to enjoy each attraction, and continuing to build relationships with guests throughout the experience.
  • Using strong communication skills to listen, engage, and converse with guests to enhance their experience.
  • Coaching, assisting and rescuing guests on the attractions as required.
  • Attending required meetings and training.
  • Assisting with attractions maintenance as requested.
  • Responsible for assisting with gear maintenance, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the equipment, as requested.
  • Other duties as required.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Candidates must be 19 years old on or before April 1 of the summer for which you are applying.
  • Prior experience with outdoor recreation, athletics, educational roles, high ropes instructor experience, ziplining, climbing, lift operation or guest relations is an asset.
  • Comfortable working at heights and working with fall protection systems.
  • Have great attention to detail to ensure safety and overall positive guest experience.
  • Guides must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business instructions, technical procedures, or government regulations that will be written in English.
  • Strong physical stamina and conditioning. Physical demands of the position include working outdoors in all weather conditions, repetitive actions and speaking, sitting/standing for extended periods of time, frequent bending/twisting, and ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to walk long distances at high altitudes and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Possess full range of overhead arm motions. Have full hand dexterity. Have enough upper body strength to pull self and the potential addition of up to 250 pounds along each cable’s incline.
  • Every guide is required to work in a fast-paced, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong communication and listening skills with local and international guests and staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • First aid and/or CPR certification is an asset.
  • Second language skills are highly advantageous.
