The starting salary for this position is $20.00.

What will you do in this job?

The facilities maintenance helper role provides for the ongoing daily and seasonal maintenance needs for all Maligne Lake facilities, onsite staff accommodation and fleet. This is a dynamic role and will include any, or all, of the following:

  • Assist the fleet maintenance manager and lead mechanic as required in any light duty maintenance assistance with the boat or ground fleet.
  • Facilities painting needs both interior and exterior
  • Performing daily maintenance checks as assigned
  • Supporting general facility cleaning needs as required
  • Completing general repairs within scope of experience/skill including minor carpentry, plumbing, landscaping and light equipment operations
  • Picking up supplies, taking recycling to the town depot
  • Other duties as assigned

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Previous painting experience is preferred
  • Previous mechanical familiarity an asset (engine knowledge)
  • Comfortable using variety of hand and power tools
  • Some general light maintenance and repair skills are preferred
  • Class 5 driver’s license (unrestricted), required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and capable of manual duties, required, which may include working at heights, use of manual and power tools
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Internally motivated with a consistently high level of energy
  • High attention to detail and safety focused
  • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Be prepared for all weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail)
  • Must meet the organization grooming and appearance standards
