What will be your daily pursuit?

As an Interpretive Coordinator you will contribute to making lasting memories for our guests by training and evaluating both the Skywalk and Driver team to be the best interpretive guides they can be.

What will your compensation be?

The starting salary for this position is $21.00 per hour + $1.50/hr retention bonus for every regular hour worked.

This job is posted as part of our seasonal hiring for Spring/Summer, 2025.

What will you do in this job?

  • Deliver a four-day interpretive training program to interpretive guides throughout the season.
  • Continue delivering interpretive training to supply guides with additional information throughout the season.
  • Develop new interpretive training documents and presentations to better educate all guides.
  • Observing and reporting both positive and negative items to specific department Managers/Supervisors and Interpretive Manager.
  • Evaluate guides frequently during the season to ensure quality and consistency of tours that are being delivered to our guests.
  • Support, coach and encourage each guide. Provide an interactive and professional guest experience, aiming above and beyond our guests’ expectations.
  • Ensure delivery on key performance areas for the guides, and relaying feedback and solutions to the Leadership teams at the Columbia Icefield.
  • Focus on operational excellence, employee training and development, service standards and consistencies for all guides.
  • Assist Interpretive Manager with tasks in a timely and detailed manner.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Columbia Icefield Skywalk when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by your employer.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Organization and time management skills are a must.
  • A passion for making a difference for each guest and employee is the most important aspect of this position!
  • Must get excited at the idea of living and working in a remote (yet very social) environment.
  • Strong administrative skills and a Class 5 Canadian driver’s license (clean abstract) are required.
  • Previous interpretive guiding, and training experience required.
  • An educational background in geology, glaciology, biology, or an IGA certification is preferred.
  • Guest service-oriented mindset and a passion for coaching and developing employee skills.
  • Must have a strong commitment to teaching and creating awareness about climate change and the environment.
  • Computer knowledge (must know how to use Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to think on the fly and outside the box to solve problems with a positive attitude.
  • Seeking someone mature, energetic, dependable, and self-driven.
  • Ability to thrive and lead independently in a fast-paced, chaotic, high-pressure environment.
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Be prepared to work in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail).

  • Must meet and set a strong example for the company grooming and appearance standards.
  • Commitment to become an interpretive expert and ambassador through the completion of a multi-week interpretive train the trainer program (training provided upon start of employment).
