What will be your daily pursuit?

As an Equipment Operator at the Columbia Icefield, you play a critical role in supporting the daily operation by ensuring the readiness of all private roads pertaining to the Columbia Icefield Adventure tour.  You will wake everyday to greet glaciers and prepare the ice road for a safe, memorable journey for our international guests.

What will your compensation be?

The starting salary for this position is $27.00 per hour.

This job is posted as part of our seasonal hiring for Spring/Summer, 2025.

What will you do in this job?

  • Safety 1st! Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any duties
  • Prepare, grade and maintain the Ice Explorer glacier road daily prior to tour commencing
  • Assist in snow clearing when needed
  • Equipment movement when needed
  • Complete pre-trip inspections and appropriate paperwork for each machine every day
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on the equipment (greasing)
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environment
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processes
  • Support colleagues and co-workers in their duties. Act as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything roadways and road maintenance

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Equipment Operator ticket preferred (accumulated experience will be considered)
  • 3-years’ experience operating heavy equipment including;
    • 1-2 years grader
    • 1-2 years bulldozer
  • Class 1 driver’s license an asset
  • Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills
  • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
  • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor environment. Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly at the Columbia Icefield
  • Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy
  • Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards
  • To honour our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check
  • Standard First-Aid or higher an asset
