What will be your daily pursuit?

Your daily pursuit is ensuring positive guest experiences and interactions by delivering unique interpretive content in a fun and engaging way, while simultaneously operating a commercial vehicle in a safe manner.

What will your compensation be?

  • This is a union position. The wages offered will be in line with our collective bargaining agreement.
  • Driver training will be provided for the right candidate. Training wage is $17.50 per hour.

When does this adventure begin?

This job is posted as part of our seasonal hiring for Spring/Summer, 2025. The contract dates for this position are April 22,2025 to September 28, 2025.

What will you do in this job?

  • Driver Guide: someone who leads a group through interpretative experience, while safely operating a commercial vehicle. Following road laws, is courteous to other drivers and sets a good example on the road.
  • An Open Top Touring Driver Guide is more than just a regular driver guide - they are memory makers, developers of entertaining educational experiences, purveyors of authentic passion, and smile providers.
  • Follow all instructions regarding operations from base and coordinators, while staying on time and schedule.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections at the compound.
  • Have a good understanding of tour route and content, to deliver a unique interpretive experience in a fun, safe and engaging way during 90-minute loops.
  • Greet guests, welcome them onboard and be responsible for their safety both while on the tour and at designated stops, ensuring that all guests are accounted for.
  • Prepare for tours including printing passenger manifests, preparing beverage service and cleaning/sanitizing vehicles.
  • Maintaining all logs and/or paperwork required by Transport Canada on a daily basis, including Vehicle Inspection Report and Electronic Logging Device and/or Driver Logbook
  • Wear a unique uniform while using provided props and materials to bring content to life.
  • Performing Pursuit Adventure Centre / Transportation Desk Agent duties, including ticket sales, retail sales of merchandise, operating the Point-of-Sale system and cash handling including cash-ins/outs.
  • Assist with cleaning of the vehicle at the end of each day and practicing proper storage of vehicle and supplies.
  • Be attuned to weather patterns and determine canvas roof requirements – safely removing or installing the roof as needed and securing it properly. Some overhead heavy lifting is required.
  • Additional responsibilities and roles within Brewster Transportation.
  • Act as an ambassador for Open Top Touring, Pursuit, the town of Banff and Banff National Park.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Position is contingent upon successful completion of training and acquisition of Alberta Class 4 Drivers License.
  • Safety-minded with an Alberta Class 4 driver’s license and valid Commercial Drivers Abstract
    • Alberta Class 4 is a commercial license for 24-passenger vehicles. To obtain this license you need to pass a Driver Medical, and a written knowledge test that shows that you know the rules of the road. Driver training will be provided, as well as assistance in obtaining an Alberta Class 4 driver’s license.
  • Ability to comply with National Safety Code regulations, US Department of Transport regulations, Transport Canada regulations and our corporate policies including Drug and Alcohol policies.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of a second language is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Works well independently, but also in a team environment.
  • Organized, punctual, hardworking and driven, with conflict resolution skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Experience in guest focus and group management.
  • Natural storyteller, and acting or theatrical background an asset.
  • Have a positive attitude, with a dynamic, outgoing, engaging, animated and energetic personality and the ability to connect with multiple groups of people.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in day-to-day operations
  • Passion for travel and people with an interest in the tourism / hospitality sector of the Canadian Rockies.
  • Knowledge of Canadian History, an asset but not mandatory
  • Valid First Aid an asset
