What will be your daily pursuit?

The role of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is to assist the Maintenance Manager to support, coach, and encourage the cleaning team to provide an exceptional guest experience by providing a safe, clean and professional looking facility for guests visiting the Glacier Discovery Center.

What will your compensation be?

The starting salary for this position is $25.00 per hour.

What will you do in this job?

  • Support, train, coach, encourage the Facilities Maintenance team 
  • Act as the “on the floor” daily leadership for the Facilities Maintenance team 
  • Focus on operational excellence, employee training and development, service standards and consistencies 
  • Coordination of daily and weekly employee schedules and breaks 
  • Recognizing, and identifying, business needs in relation to employee scheduling 
  • Provide administrative support to the Maintenance Manager, including supplies ordering and SOP Development 
  • Performing quality assurance checks and coaching staff members as required 
  • Performing daily maintenance checks 
  • Completing repairs within scope of experience/skill 
  • Following up on maintenance requests 
  • Participating in seasonal annual opening and closing procedures 
  • Booking and coordinating contractors 
  • Other duties as assigned 

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Previous leadership position experience, or a willingness progress into a leadership position
  • A passion for coaching and developing employees
  • Excellent employee and public relations skills and a friendly/cooperative nature
  • Strong team play, organization and communication skills
  • Must get excited at the idea of living and working in a remote (yet very social) environment
  • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to lift loads of up to 50 pounds as necessary
  • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Internally motivated with a consistently high level of energy
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks needing attention
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills, while possessing flexibility towards different tasks
  • Confidence to safely use common hand tools such as hammers, drills, wrenches and screwdrivers
  • Experience in a custodial or light maintenance role an asset
  • Tourism or hospitality industry experience an asset
  • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Be prepared for all weather conditions (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail)
  • Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards

  • Standard First-Aid or higher an asset
