What will be your daily pursuit?

The Senior Director, Public Relations and Communication will provide strategic direction, mentorship, and executive-level support in the development and execution of comprehensive communications strategies. This role requires a strategic thinker with rich experience supporting global businesses, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in public relations, corporate communications, crisis communications, storytelling, media relationships and influencer partnerships. This role leads a team of five media and communications professionals and collaborates closely with the CEO, CRO and COOs —aligning communications strategy with business objectives and building a strong, consistent reputation across markets and stakeholders.

 

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Senior Director, Public Relations and Communications will be a key member of the Revenue leadership team, supporting and contributing to all core strategic decisions.

What will you do in this job?

  • Strategic Leadership: Set the vision and direction for an integrated public relations and communications strategy that supports business objectives, strengthens brand reputation, and drives engagement across global markets. Provide strategic counsel to executives while empowering the team to execute with excellence.
  • Media Relations: Oversee the development of media relations strategies that foster strong relationships with top-tier media outlets, ensuring the team is equipped to drive proactive storytelling and responsive media engagement across global markets.
  • Corporate Public Relations: Lead the development of proactive corporate PR strategies that shape and protect Pursuit’s brand reputation. Oversee messaging around the company’s mission, values, growth, and leadership, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations. Provide guidance on key announcements, executive visibility, and storytelling that reinforces Pursuit’s position as a purpose-driven, globally expanding company.
  • Thought Leadership & Brand Positioning: Shape the strategic direction of the brand by elevating executive voices and aligning them with key industry conversations. Identify high-impact speaking and media opportunities, and coach spokespeople to represent the brand with clarity, confidence, and purpose across global platforms.
  • Influencer Strategy: Guide the strategic approach to influencer partnerships, working with the team to identify and manage relationships with creators aligned to key brand priorities and growth markets.
  • Crisis Communication: Create and implement crisis communication strategies to protect brand integrity and stakeholder trust. Act as a key advisor during high-pressure situations, ensuring timely, transparent and coordinated responses. Partner with executive and operational teams to anticipate risks, uphold safety and manage reputational challenges.
  • Content Strategy & Development: Lead the strategic direction of brand storytelling by overseeing the creation of compelling, high-quality content across owned and earned channels. Ensure messaging consistency, tone, and alignment with brand values across press releases, trade communications, executive messaging, social media, and thought leadership platforms.
  • Investor Relations Support: Collaborate with the Investor Relations team to shape and amplify external messaging around financial performance, corporate milestones and shareholder communications. Ensure alignment between investor narratives and broader brand storytelling to reinforce confidence, transparency, and long-term value creation.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Champion the company’s Promise to Place and CSR initiatives as a core expression of brand purpose. Ensure these stories are strategically communicated to inspire community engagement, strengthen stakeholder trust and reinforce Pursuit’s commitment to responsible travel and long-term impact.
  • Team Leadership: Provide high-level strategic direction while enabling team members to own and execute their areas of expertise. Act as a coach and advisor, ensuring cross-functional alignment and removing roadblocks.
  • Performance Measurement & Insights: Define success metrics and implement measurement frameworks to evaluate the impact of PR and communications strategies. Leverage data-driven insights to optimize storytelling, strengthen brand reputation, and inform ongoing strategic decisions across the business.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leaders across marketing, operations, finance, sales, people & culture, and sustainability to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and aligned communication strategies. Act as a connector across teams to drive consistency, amplify impact, and embed communications into core business initiatives.
  • Strategic Oversight & Team Empowerment: Provide high-level strategic direction while enabling team members to own and execute their areas of expertise. Act as a coach and advisor, ensuring cross-functional alignment and removing roadblocks to success.
  • Brand Integration & Global Growth: Develop strategic communications plans that support the integration of newly acquired businesses into the Pursuit portfolio. Ensure consistent brand alignment, celebrate local identity, and showcase operational excellence as Pursuit continues to grow on the global stage.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, align cross-functional stakeholders, and serve as a trusted advisor during moments of opportunity or scrutiny.
  • Experience leading communications during mergers, acquisitions, or integrations, with a strong understanding of change management and stakeholder alignment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading change communications that foster alignment, clarity, and trust during periods of organizational transformation.
  • Deep understanding of evolving digital communications platforms and trends, including executive social media, content amplification, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Experience managing communications across global markets with sensitivity to cultural nuances and local stakeholder needs.
  • Proven ability to uphold and evolve brand voice and communications standards across a matrixed or multi-brand organization.
  • Strong background in the travel and hospitality industry is highly preferred.
  • Established network of media contacts and a track record of success in corporate PR.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and deliver impactful messaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in analytics and performance measurement tools to assess communication effectiveness and optimize strategies.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
